So you brought your new plant friends home and now what?

Well first thing to do is find the perfect spot for your piece. If you choose to display your piece inside your home, find the sunniest spot in your house, or the window that gets the most and longest sunlight during the day. Southern facing windows are the most ideal for these plants.

Make sure that wherever you are displaying your Botanical Project piece, that the surface of your furniture is protected as all of my pieces drain at the bottom. Which means, all watering must be done either outside or on a protective tray of some sort (I like using old baking sheets)!

If you choose to display your piece outside, filtered bright light is best since most of my pieces feature younger ‘less hearty’ plants. Or take the time to acclimate it to a brighter environment. None of these plants do that well in the hot noon sun, so try to avoid placing it in a spot where that occurs.

Radios, Typewriters, Cameras, Phones etc –

Best to water outside and only water IN BETWEEN the cacti. If your arrangement has a top finish of rock, water at the rocks at the base of each plant.

If your arrangement has a top finish of moss, always avoid wetting the moss as this could rot the cacti. You want to keep the cacti dry and only water at the roots. There are spaces in between the cacti to water. And NEVER use a sprayer/mister, this is not only good for the plants but also the cool vintage piece your plants are living in! If you accidentally wet your vessel be sure to wipe it dry, especially if you have a wooden vessel!

Vintage Beer Can Cacti Care

DO NOT WATER ON WOODEN DISPLAY STAND. The wooden disc that came with your can is only used for display and to provide some protection for your furniture, additional protection is recommended.

Best to water outside (the bottom of the cans sometimes are very rusty and may stain, so please keep that in mind!) and then allow to fully drain before bringing it back in for display.

Please refer to the General Plant Care for additional information.
